First off, Happy New Year! From everyone here at Gaming Till Disconnected. We have been down making changed to the site over Christmas but now we are back and here is the first of some seriously great games to be featured on Gaming Till Disconnected.
Ok I must admit from the word go that dance games are not one of my strong games, well I have never really played one if I am honest with you. My fiance had to help me out with this title and well she still is playing the game as I type this review. So If you have not guessed it yet Dance Central is a dancing game which may not appeal to the mass of gamers out there as most of us like to hold a controller and sit down while playing games (that might just be me). But I must say from the word go I did enjoy this game and that is strange because I am not the sort of person that would play on dance games like this in any arcade as I would feel like an idiot.
When you load the game up for the first time you may think what am I actually just about to do to myself and will I look like an idiot? Well the second one may be true but you cannot help but have funny while playing this game. of course there is also excerise value in the game and if you are worried about hurting your self then the Xbox will tell you to take a break after a certain amount of time. Which is always a handy thing to have in the game. Currently out on the Kinect for Xbox 360 are a few fitness and dance games but I think this game is far better than the competition out there and will make a real dancer out of you.
Like many dance games the idea is to earn five stars for the song. This can be achieved by timing your moves perfectly and also can be achieved if you play it on easy. Unfortunately for me I had to review this game on Hard also and getting five stars on those songs are really hard as the game is throwing hard moves at you to increase the difficulty. This format is great fun and you will not get bored of it. However if you are playing it on hard mode please take as many brakes as possible as these routines can be very hard work and we don’t want you to get hurt.
Some of the achievements to be had in the game are very hard to get like dance a perfect dance with no cue cards. I am sure that dancers won’t have a problem with this but I sure will as I have enough on my plate playing the game. The graphics are great and your moves look amazing when the computer is showing you them (Not when you get shown the freestyle bit of you looking like a prat!). Also there is a wide range of music to dance to and in other games hoping to rival this title there is not.
Being able to choose your dancers is also a nice addition the the game and also being able to unlock outfits for them is even better. The game makes you feel that you should hav had a career in dancing instead of what you do. Like I have already said the game really puts itself miles ahead of the competition with the various game modes like work out mode and dance battle mode. The great music and dance routines and the all round greatness of this game.
There are many hours of fun to be had on this game and we can’t stop playing it. We are also going to be launching a get fit with Kinect program on the site. And this game will be featured as one of the games to be playing. The entertainment and exercise value of the game is really a must for anyone who had a kinect and is wondering what to do with the unit. Fun for all ages and certainly great value for money!
