Now, FIFA Ultimate Team is probably the most exciting and fun feature in FIFA 12, as it allows you to create your dream team of star footballers. Yes, you can have Messi AND Ronaldo, and pretty much anyone else you want! It could be the way to really flex your FIFA muscle, and prove yourself to the world.
However, EA aren’t stupid. It is a very nice way to play the game, using the trading card system which of course you will remember from the playground days. There are two ways to earn coins to spend on these packs:
- Play lots and lots of games, taking up lots of time, and not that rewarding when it comes to coins.
- Spend your hard earnt money on packs
Packs of course are completely random. Therefore, you’re not gonna get the world’s greatest team in your first few packs. From personal experience, I spent £15 on packs – the best player I got? Marouane Chamakh. What a fail. However, it is possible to get the right players. For example, a friend of mine spent just a fiver, getting Ibrahimovic, Rossi and Lloris. Not bad eh? He then sold them on, and got enough coins to ensure that he doesn’t have to spend his own money ever again (unless he gets greedy). Another person I play with has got both Ronaldo and Messi – he has spent over £200 on packs. To be honest, I’d never spend that much on a video game… each to their own though.
This does mean though that, in order to get the best players, many do resort to cheating. Here’s a few pointers:
- THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A DUPLICATOR
- GIVEAWAYS DO NOT WORK – YOU WILL LOSE YOUR PLAYERS AND GET NOTHING
- DO NOT ENTER YOUR EA ACCOUNT DETAILS TO ANY WEBSITE EXCEPT EA’S ULTIMATE TEAM WEB APP (http://www.ea.com/uk/football/fifa-ultimate-team)

Duplicators
Okay, there is no such thing. EA creates a certain amount of cards every now and then. Every card has a “date issued” on the player’s bio. It is impossible for people to duplicate your players. Simply, you will lose your players for nothing. A guy messaged me on PSN saying “I can duplicate your players, wanna do it?”. I replied “okay, I’ll send you my 60 rated bronze player”. He then said “nah mate, only works for players rated 80+”. How convenient. Blocked.
Giveaways
These are becoming more and more popular on Facebook, as pages are set up giving players away. It works this way. They will put up a silver/bronze player for sale, saying “send me your best trade offer, whoever is best will then be sent Tevez” or something like that. Of course it won’t be sent! All you end up with is a terrible silver player, and minus your coins/star players. Do not do it.
Websites
Basically, people set up a website, which has a few data entry boxes. They started out as very simple sites, asking for “PSN name, password, email, what players you want duplicated”. Of course, they failed to work as they were so obviously sham websites, but some people were that stupid. However, I have seen a very good website, which looks EXACTLY like the EA Web App. Please please please please PLEASE for the love of god DO NOT enter your details. You will end up losing your players, coins, and absolutely everything you owned. ONLY trust the official EA website; the link is posted above.
A REAL CASE!!
Okay, there are a group of Facebook pages which have been set up, all offering different things for Ultimate Team
(as stated above). Now, the person who has created these pages continuously puts up giveaways and stuff like that. They have hacked numerous people, exploiting their Ultimate Teams, and ultimately ripping people off. Look at their team (see pic on right). There is no way that people can play that many games/spend that much money to get a team that is that good, let alone still have a ridiculous amount of money left over.
Although the team name has been scribbled out (so he can’t be reported, obviously), I can confirm that the name of the team on Playstation 3 is Helsby FC. Please do not buy anything/trade with this team, as it is hacked, and it is very likely that you are going to be on the receiving end of a nasty surprise from this guy. The way he sucks people in is by setting up fake accounts on Facebook, so that on a giveaway draw, he can say “well done Mary Smith!”. He then logs in to his Mary Smith account, and says “wow! can’t believe I got Messi! cheers mate!”. Then, he’ll announce there’s a rare silver player up for sale, which normally goes for 250,000 coins. Believe it or not, Helsby FC is selling it for just 100,000 coins! Mary Smith then says “wow, this guy is good!”. Everyone then goes and buys asgiufbasgiubafsg-dinho (that stupid spelling is intended), and Helsby FC continues to leech off people.
It is cases like this which is why I don’t play Ultimate Team anymore. I’m better than most of the other players (as well as being so modest…), so when I lose, it’s usually down to lag/they have a better team than me. If they have a better team, there is no way I can trust that they have earnt that fairly, for I highly doubt they have, especially with a team as shown in the picture. FIFA Ultimate Team can be alot of fun, but it is the small percentage such as Helsby FC which ruin it for everyone else.
This article is set to be emailed to EA, and I will look to get this user banned, for he has ruined the game for everyone else. Unfortunately, it is very very hard to prove it, and EA do state that any hacking is the fault of the user themselves (which is true, after all, you’ve been the one stupid enough to give away your details). However, I will try my best. On the Facebook pages, I have put many times DO NOT DEAL THIS GUY IS A HACKER. He has subsequently blocked me from posting on any of his pages, meaning I can’t do anything to stop people falling into his trap.
Whatever you do, play Ultimate Team fairly. Don’t hack, don’t give away your details, and play clean. Duplicators, giveaways and anything of the like do not exist. So don’t fall into the trap, as you will not only lose your players, but also your own money.
